Mar-Pierre - Marbles, Granites and Natural Stones

Quartzite

A metamorphic rock formed primarily from quartz sandstone, quartzite can be mistaken for marble or lighter tones of granite. Although harder than granite, it may not be as scuff resistant. Generally highly stain resistant, continuous exposure to soluble salts via water or damp can eventually cause discoloration. With its strong integrity, quartzite is easily cleaned with nonabrasive detergents and water making it ideal for high use and hygiene-critical areas. Occurring in a range of tones and lighter colors, quartzite is versatile and suitable for interiors and exteriors. One of the weightier stones, load-bearing structures or reinforcement is a must for quartzite designs.
